PANTECH GI 100: THE FIRST CELLPHONE WITH FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION

PANTECH GI 100: THE FIRST CELLPHONE WITH FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION

Introducing the Pantech GI 100, the first cellphone to have fingerprint recognition in it. The fingerprint scanner is located at the top center of the keypad number. Through fingerprint scan, you can secure your data saved on your cellphone. If you’re the kind of person that usually save important data on your cellphone, with this fingerprint recognition system, your data will be saved securely on your cellphone and only you can access that data.

Using clamshell design, the Pantech GI 100 doesn’t look very stylish since its design is quite rigid. It also has an external antenna making it looks like an old cellphone.

The Pantech GI 100 uses dual screen. The outside TFT screen resolution is 262K (128 x 160 pixels), and the inside also uses 262K colors. The feature on Pantech GI 100 is very very standard. You can send SMS, EMS and MMS. Pantech GI 100 already supports GPRS class 10, but not 3G and EDGE. You can’t use this cellphone for data transferring, since it doesn’t have Bluetooth, or infrared and not even USB port. And this phone only works on dual band network (GSM 900 / GSM 1800).

For saving data, the Pantech GI 100 only has internal memory which is very small, only 13.5MB. With only 13.5MB, what important data can you save on your cellphone? There’s no slot for external memory so you must arrange smartly your data. Well, although I wouldn’t choose this cellphone as my own, but the fingerprint recognition system is quite phenomenal since it’s the first one ever to installed in a cellphone.

PANTECH GB 100: CLAMSHELL FOR ENTRY LEVEL USER

PANTECH GB 100: CLAMSHELL FOR ENTRY LEVEL USER

The Pantech GB 100 is a clamshell designed cellphone made for entry level user. This cellphone doesn’t have many features for people who need advance features in a cellphone. The Pantech GB 100 only works in dualband network, the GSM 900 and GSM 1800. Although designed for entry level user, the Pantech GB 100 already has CSTN color screen capable of showing 65K colors. The ringtones already support polyphonic.

Not much I can say about the Pantech GB 100, since it’s just an ordinary cellphone. The Pantech GB 100 can save up to 300 phonebook, so you don’t have to worry loosing your friend’s phone number. No external memory available, but Pantech GB 100 already equipped with 750KB internal memory. You can’t transfer your data to other devices since the Pantech GB 100 doesn’t have any media to transfer data, no Bluetooth, infrared, nor USB port.

The Pantech GB 100 is just an ordinary phone made for entry level user. So if you need cellphone with advance features, you won’t get it from this cellphone. But if you’re thinking buying cellphone for someone who’s going to use cellphone for the first time, the Pantech GB 100 can be one of the nominees.

PANTECH PG 3600V: iPOD WANNABE???

PANTECH PG 3600V: iPOD WANNABE???

If you look at Pantech PG 3600V, its design will remind you to Apple’s great invention, the iPod. Yes, it looks very much like the iPod. With 176 x 220 pixels screen and round touch wheel sensor below the screen, you can mistakenly think that it’s an iPod. I think Pantech is trying to follow the success of iPod, but I don’t think they will come to that kind of success iPod have.

The Pantech PG 3600V launched on February 2006, already have MP3 player in it. But only MP3, it doesn’t support AAC or AAC+. The internal memory is quite small to save MP3 files. The Pantech PG 3600V only have 32MB internal memory, so if one MP3 file approximately 4MB, it only can have 8 MP3 songs in it. Not exactly an iPod to me. But however, to eliminate this downside, the Pantech PG 3600V equipped with an external memory slot to support microSD (TransFlash) memory.

The Pantech PG 3600V comes in two colors, black and pink. At the back side of the cellphone, you’ll find 1.3MP (1280 x 1024 pixels) camera and video. Quite nice although it’s only 1.3MP, since lots of cellphone still use VGA camera.

For connecting to the net, this Pantech cellphone is equipped with GPRS class 10, but it doesn’t support 3G and EDGE. If you need to transfer your data, you can use Bluetooth and USB port.

Nothing really special about this cellphone except for the iPod design. So if you want a cellphone that looks like an iPod, you can choose the Pantech PG 3600V as your cellphone.
